The **CSDM Service Life Cycle** is a portfolio-centric, end-to-end view that represents the core model for the [[Common Service Data Model|Common Service Data Model]] (CSDM) 5, developed by [[ServiceNow|ServiceNow]]. This life cycle view organizes the CSDM domains as sequential stages through which data flows, from initial ideation through to service consumption, providing greater understanding of how service-related data progresses across the enterprise. The [[Foundation (CSDM domain)|Foundation domain]] serves as a supporting layer beneath all life cycle stages rather than as a stage itself. The CSDM Service Life Cycle comprises five sequential stages: [[Ideation & Strategy (CSDM domain)|Ideation & Strategy]], where new ideas and goals are captured and assessed; [[Design & Planning (CSDM domain)|Design & Planning]], where approved ideas are detailed for future development; [[Build & Integration (CSDM domain)|Build & Integration]], where ideas become deployable solutions; [[Service Delivery (CSDM domain)|Service Delivery]], where solutions are released for operational use; and [[Service Consumption (CSDM domain)|Service Consumption]], where services are used and their value to the business is measured. A sixth domain, [[Manage Portfolio (CSDM domain)|Manage Portfolio]], encompasses portions of all five stages to provide service owners with complete oversight of their responsibilities. Throughout this progression, feedback flows back to earlier stages to ensure delivery aligns with the goals documented in Ideation & Strategy.
