A **Facility Model** is a [[Product Model (CSDM)|Product Model (CSDM)]] type within the [[Foundation (CSDM domain)|Foundation domain]] of the [[Common Service Data Model|Common Service Data Model]] (CSDM), a reference architecture developed by [[ServiceNow|ServiceNow]] that provides prescriptive guidance on service-related definitions and data modeling within the ServiceNow AI Platform. A Facility Model represents facility-related products and infrastructure that support building operations, including the physical structures and systems within [[Location (CSDM)|locations]] such as office buildings, manufacturing plants, data centers, and operations control centers.
Facility Models are recorded in the cmdb_facility_product_model table and are one of ten base product model types extended from the cmdb_model table, alongside [[Application Model (CSDM)|Application Model (CSDM)]], [[System Component Model (CSDM)|System Component Model (CSDM)]], [[Service Model (CSDM)|Service Model]], [[Software Model (CSDM)|Software Model (CSDM)]], [[Content Product Model (CSDM)|Content Product Model (CSDM)]], [[Contract Model (CSDM)|Contract Model (CSDM)]], [[Hardware Model (CSDM)|Hardware Model (CSDM)]], [[Consumable Model (CSDM)|Consumable Model (CSDM)]], and [[Enterprise Good Model (CSDM)|Enterprise Good Model (CSDM)]]. Facility Models support the expanded scope of CSDM 5 to include facility operations as part of the Digital Value Network, enabling [[Facility Service Instance (CSDM)|Facility Service Instances]] to reference their product definitions. Like all product models, Facility Models are not [[Configuration item|configuration items]]; rather, facility-related CIs and [[Asset|assets]] reference product models using the "Model ID" attribute, enabling [[Product Owner (CSDM)|Product Owners]] to track life cycle status, compatibility, and end-of-life details for facility products across the [[CSDM Service Life Cycle|CSDM Service Life Cycle]].
