An **Operational Process Service Instance** is an entity within the [[Service Delivery (CSDM domain)|Service Delivery domain]] of the [[Common Service Data Model|Common Service Data Model]] (CSDM), a reference architecture developed by [[ServiceNow|ServiceNow]] that provides prescriptive guidance on service-related definitions and data modeling within the ServiceNow AI Platform. An Operational Process Service Instance represents a logical instance of an operational process based on a series or sequence of interdependent, network-connected and disconnected devices and equipment that implement or realize end-to-end operational processes such as manufacturing, industrial processing, utility operations, or warehouse operations. Operational Process Service Instances are recorded in the cmdb_ci_operational_process_service_instance table with a Service Classification of "Technical Service" and are a [[Service Instance (CSDM)|Service Instance]] type introduced in CSDM 5 as a sibling to [[Application Service (CSDM)|Application Service]]. While these operational processes may be autonomic, they typically involve operational frontline employees interacting with [[Operational Technology (CSDM)|Operational Technology]] equipment and devices. This Service Instance type supports the expanded scope of CSDM 5 beyond traditional technology services to include utility, manufacturing, retail, and transportation services as part of the Digital Value Network vision. As with other new Service Instance types in CSDM 5, Operational Process Service Instances are provided as a data model only requiring manual creation and maintenance, with no dedicated user interface and no inclusion in Event Impact Analysis.
