A **Product Idea** is an entity within the [[Ideation & Strategy (CSDM domain)|Ideation & Strategy domain]] of the [[Common Service Data Model|Common Service Data Model]] (CSDM), a reference architecture developed by [[ServiceNow|ServiceNow]] that provides prescriptive guidance on service-related definitions and data modeling within the ServiceNow AI Platform. A Product Idea can represent a complete product, feature, enhancement, change proposal, or suggestion that can be curated and promoted into demand, project, epic, or story as part of the [[CSDM Service Life Cycle|CSDM Service Life Cycle]]. Product Ideas are recorded in the sn_align_core_product_idea table and serve as the starting point for new service or product development within [[Strategic Portfolio Management (ServiceNow)|Strategic Portfolio Management]] (SPM). When a business decides that a Product Idea aligns with its strategy and agrees to invest, the idea progresses into the [[Design & Planning (CSDM domain)|Design & Planning]] stage where details are enhanced for future development. Product Ideas may be shelved if not approved, but remain fully documented within the system. The [[Product Owner (CSDM)|Product Owner]] persona is responsible for capturing, curating, and managing Product Ideas, relating them to [[Product Model (CSDM)|product models]] and [[Goal (CSDM)|goals]] to ensure alignment with organizational strategy and desired business outcomes.
