The **Product Life Cycle Process** is one of five standardized life cycle processes within the [[Foundation (CSDM domain)|Foundation domain]] of the [[Common Service Data Model|Common Service Data Model]] (CSDM), a reference architecture developed by [[ServiceNow|ServiceNow]] that provides prescriptive guidance on service-related definitions and data modeling within the ServiceNow AI Platform. This process defines the [[Life Cycle Stage (CSDM)|Life Cycle Stages]] and [[Life Cycle Stage Status (CSDM)|Life Cycle Stage Statuses]] used to manage the overall life cycle of [[Product Model (CSDM)|Product Models]] and [[Service Model (CSDM)|Service Models]], with stages and statuses visible only on product model tables.
The Product Life Cycle Process comprises four stages: Ideation, Design, Operational, and End of Life. The Ideation stage includes Under Evaluation (product being assessed for business value, functionality, and technical viability) and Pilot (small-scale deployment for testing before broader adoption). The Design stage includes Chartered (formally approved for development or procurement), Design (being architected with specifications and configurations defined), and Build (being developed, tested, and prepared for deployment). The Operational stage includes Available (fully developed and ready for procurement or deployment), Pending Retirement (still operational but scheduled to be phased out), and End of Support (no longer receiving updates or vendor support). The End of Life stage includes Retired (no longer available for new deployments but may exist in limited use) and Obsolete (completely phased out and no longer supported or used).
