A **Technology Management Service** is an entity within the [[Service Delivery (CSDM domain)|Service Delivery domain]] of the [[Common Service Data Model|Common Service Data Model]] (CSDM), a reference architecture developed by [[ServiceNow|ServiceNow]] that provides prescriptive guidance on service-related definitions and data modeling within the ServiceNow AI Platform. Previously labeled Technical Service prior to CSDM 5 and the Yokohama release, a Technology Management Service represents a service type published to service consumers that provides the administrative and operational functions to manage technologies typically layered under one or more [[Business Service (CSDM)|Business Services]] and [[Application Service (CSDM)|Application Services]].
Technology Management Services are recorded in the cmdb_ci_service_technical table with a Service Classification of "Technical Service" and are operational [[Configuration item|configuration items]] used for impact analysis in [[Incident management (ITSM)|Incident]], [[Problem management|Problem]], and [[Change management (ITSM)|Change]] processes. They enable users to view and manage the technologies provided to the business from a provider-focused perspective, with [[Event Management (ServiceNow)|Event Management]] enabling monitoring of service performance and identification of health issues for related infrastructure CIs and Application Services. Technology Management Services are associated with a service owner and have one or more [[Technology Management Service Offering (CSDM)|Technology Management Service Offerings]]. Beginning with the Rome release, Technology Management Services can be managed as part of the [[Service Portfolio (CSDM)|Service Portfolio]] in the [[Service Consumption (CSDM domain)|Service Consumption domain]], allowing for a more complete hierarchy of both technical and [[Business Service (CSDM)|business services]] within [[Service Portfolio Management (CSDM)|Service Portfolio Management]]. Technology Management Services are single-level and do not support hierarchy.
